Patented Technology Overview
Hi-PSI-G is an improved alpha-hemihydrate binder employing an improved crystal morphology that has substantially reduced pore volume between agglomerated crystal clusters. The technology is described in the recently issued U.S. Pat. Appl. No. 10/800,780 “Calcium sulphate-based composition and methods of making same “. Currently available alpha hemihydrate have crystals with an average particle diameter of 20 microns (µm) as depicted in Figure 2. Hi-PSI-G’s improved alpha hemihydrate crystal clusters have an average particle diameter of 100 µm as shown in Figure 3. The “blockier” crystal structure leads to improved properties in the material, such as reduced water demand. Additionally, the blockier crystals lead to a more efficient packing volume, which reduces the amount of water needed to create the desired slurry. learn about the manufacturing process
